19 When his master heard his wife say,[a] “This is the way[b] your slave treated me,”[c] he became furious.[d] 20 Joseph’s master took him and threw him into the prison,[e] the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. So he was there in the prison.[f]

21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him kindness.[g] He granted him favor in the sight of the prison warden.[h]
